2003-11-14 11:59 PM Compleatly abridged We got up too early this morning and went to the Garment District with Ceridwen, Beverly, Helen, Catarucia, and Kathi. We helped the new folks buy stuff, and also bought fabric for Gyldenholt to present to Their new Majesties at Coronation (black, red, and gold linen). We picked up some fabric to make clothes for some of the SCA fire victims. Ooh, and I bought for myself. Gorgeous patterned silk in purple and gold for a Persian coat, and off-white and palest gold striped dupioni silk for the pants. I also picked up a few yards of dark blue linen for another pair of pants and three yards of cheap fabric with narrow patterned stripes for a Viking, and we got some black linen for ourselves. All for really good prices. I chose the silk over some very fine wool in a purple, blue, and green plaid that would have been a stunning Viking for late nights at wars. But who knows, maybe I'll go back. I have enough projects to keep me busy right now.
We went to the Korean embassy to pick up Ken's visa, then headed home to pack a few final things (we'd packed most of our stuff in Cat's car) and headed south on the bike. We caught up with Cat at the Denny's next to our hotel, ate, and headed further south to see a showing of The Compleat Works of Shakespeare, Abridged, starring Guillaume, an SCA acquaintance and former King. Oh my goodness. Small theatre, very small audience (we pulled up, and the lady at the box office--which was outside--said, "Oh, good, we were worried about you."), and absolutely wonderful. Ken and I had seen it before in London, Cat hadn't, and Ceridwen, whom we met there, had seen it a ton of times (she made the costumes and is good friends with Guillaume). Cat got dragged up on stage, and we all got involved at various times. And we couldn't stop laughing. If you're in the San Diego area, GO NOW. In closing, I have to say, I love my Palm and keyboard, which allows me to keep up on things like this, as well as read a free Mercedes Lackey novel before I fall asleep.
