2004-01-23 11:59 PM Still standing I’m feeling better today, although I didn’t start out that way. I woke up maudlin about Ken leaving this evening for Portland (he’ll be back late Sunday) and leaving next week (1 Feb.) for a minimum of 5 weeks in Korea (maximum of 3 months—which will be good because it’ll be fantastic money, but bad for obvious reasons), and we have a ton of stuff to do before he leaves (things I simply don’t have the capability to do myself, and hiring people to do some of it will be difficult or costly). I _hate_ that. That’s the problem with him being gone so long—any projects just stop. I mean, I can go out and buy a new sewing machine, but it would be far preferable to do it together so we both get what we want.
Anyway. By the time we breakfasted and showered, it was nearly 11, and we decided not to take the car to the transmission place today, because Ken has to leave for the airport by 5 or so, and if the car’s not done, I’m stuck. So we’ll take it in first thing Monday morning. We ran a few errands (pills, shoes for Ken, new cat dishes, a cabinet for over the washer and dryer), and now he’s putting the cabinet together and up. He’s going to need my monitor for some computer stuff he has to do for this weekend, so I’ll work ‘til he’s done in the garage, and then I’ll rearrange/organise in the garage while he’s working in here. <><><> Bah. Rejection from The Anthology From Hell. I don’t entirely agree with what she checked on her “common reasons for rejection”, but there you go. I’ll get it sent out again soon, once I start getting my submissions file rebuilt. <><><> Hee. Ordered my personalized license plates. BARWNES (Welsh for “Baroness”, my SCA title). <><><> Very late now. Ken arrived in Portland okay; it’s raining, which is preferable to snowing, at any rate. I did as much copy editing as my brain would allow, which didn’t hit my goal for the day, but I can catch up tomorrow. I watched episodes of “Monk”, “Charmed”, and “Enterprise” tonight whilst almost finishing a small cross-stitch project (standing stones), and hung out with Cat. Unsurprisingly, I got maudlin after Ken left, so this is what I needed. Now, to bed, with a goal of getting lots done tomorrow. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
