2004-02-28 11:59 PM Warped Whoops, missed another day! I kept meaning to write something… Now I don’t remember most of it. I remember I was in a good mood. Oh, Ken and I rearranged and cleaned the study. There are stations for all three computers, although Afalwen is a little hard to sit at when Ken’s at his laptop, because of the chair arrangement. It was good to work together, sort through things, make decisions, and come up with a much cleaner setup. There’s still work to do, of course, but we made a big dent. (Let’s name it Arthur! No.)
I talked to my dad, as it was his 75th birthday. He’s healing well from his falling down the stairs last month. We grabbed dinner at Baja Fresh and then Ken went off to visit his dad—he and his wife just moved into a new house. But, I wasn’t alone for long: first Cat came home, then Amy arrived, and we settled down to watch Sid & Marty Krofft shows that I had recorded. They helped me fold, staple, label, and seal the March GP, bless their hearts. Meg finally showed up as well. Cat went to bed, Amy headed home, and then Ken arrived bearing ice cream. A very lovely evening. Morning came to soon, but we were all excited because Baronesse Cara came over to teach me how to warp my Baby Wolf floor loom. This was given to me last year (as a barter thing, but the person hasn’t asked for any garb, so…) but it was the first chance to get Cara over here. I had some nifty rayon-silk blend yarn in off-white/pink/purple, and at first I thought it was a bit pinky, but now that the loom is warped, the purple really stands out. It’s going to make a gorgeous scarf. Anyway, we all warped, so it went reasonably fast. Cara had to leave before we were done, so we can’t start weaving yet. But still, extraordinarily cool! Here’s a picture. We all went to Coco’s for lunch. After we finished warping the floor loom, I taught Cat and Meg how to warp inkle looms, we have three warped with award cords. (And two empty ones. There is an embarrassment of looms in this house right now.) My DVD-R of “Hunting Venus” arrived today! (See my journalscape entry of 10 September 2003.) We ordered pizza and Meg and I watched it (Ken watched the last third or so with us), and then watched a bit of “So Graham Norton”, and then Meg went home because she has a nasty sore throat. I’m catching up on computer work now, and then I think we might watch something. Ken and I are going on a bike ride tomorrow, meeting up with another bike guy near Santa Maria to exchange seats. Should be a fun trip. And, while I’m playing, finally here are pictures of New Year’s Eve. <><><> Cat’s band’s new album is out! And I got the very very very first copy! Bwahaha! Forever Twelve. <><><> No writing again. I’m feeling bad about that. I did work on the contract for the Home at Last anthology—they told me to submit a contract that I felt was reasonable, so I pulled the same anthology contract off the SFWA website and modified it. I’ll give it one more read through tomorrow and then send it. But I need to _write_, and I’ll be thinking a lot about that tomorrow on the bike. And I should take notebook and pen with me as well. We watched the evil TV show episode of “Angel” tonight. Parts of it totally creeped me out, but parts of it were so damn funny! There was one bit we kept rewinding to watch again. Fantastic. And now to bed, for I am sleepy and we actually have to get up and out tomorrow. G’night, pets. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
