2004-04-26 11:59 PM Alternating art Hit the ground running this morning. Got up and did dishes until Ceridwen arrived, then got an awesome massage. My knots were entirely different today. I told her I was trying to keep her from getting bored. Then I dashed off to chiro and was back so quickly that it felt like I hadn’t left. Did more dishes and cooked breakfast. Ate breakfast with Ken whilst watching "Friends". Now we’re catching up on a few small things before going food shopping (the cupboard is bare…) and exchanging his phone (he likes my style better; it has more PDA-like features) and picking up some phone accessories.
<><><> And the day starts to slide away… Errands always take so much longer than I expect. But all is well, and we have lots of food, and Ken has a new phone. I’m plowing through my To Do list, and enjoying crossing things off. Hurrah. <><><> No writing today. Probably because I learned that my deadline for getting the ms mailed isn’t 1 May, but somewhere between 1 and 10 May. I might have been better off with the shorter deadline. That said, I got a lot of other stuff done, catch-up work from being gone for a week. E-mail is still heavy, but manageable. Desk is clean, things are relatively organised. GP is done and ready to go to the printer tomorrow. Many small things are crossed off the To Do list. Life is good. Really, life _is_ good! Except that summer has descended, hot and heavy, and it’s already my definition of “too hot”. But I went for a brief swim, and that was lovely indeed. This evening we curled up and watched a “CSI” and a really good “Tru Calling” and a “Will & Grace”, which was just what I wanted: a lazy, somewhat silly evening with my beloved and my good friend. Also tonight, we hosted our last Sewing Studio for a while. We’ve put it on hiatus for the summer, because we’ll be travelling so much and it would be confusing to have to keep posting what days we’d be here. Because I forgot to say that we’d be open tonight (because I sent the e-mail late yesterday, and not everybody would see it in time), only one person came. Which is fine. I actually accomplished something, for the first time in ages. When we were in Africa about four years ago, I bought a lavender gauze dress with black knotwork accents. Well, the gauze kept stretching, and I’d trip over the hem, plus it had narrow straps and I really hate it when my bra straps show. (I do _not_ see how that’s a fashion choice.) About a year and a half ago, I cut off the hem with the intent of turning it into sleeves…and never finished the project. In about 45 minutes, I did tonight. Granted, it still has serging on all the edges, but I intended this for a cool summer home dress I could throw over my nakeness when necessary. So, yay me. We’ve said that we’re available for consultation or if people just want to come over and use the cutting table and machines, and our goal is to go out there on Mondays we’re home and work on our own stuff anyway. Maybe I’ll actually get some new garb made. It’s been so long, I can barely remember what projects I was working on. I seem to alternate between different artistic projects, be they writing or sewing or embroidery or weaving or whatnot. Today I really wanted to draw or paint or handwrite, which is less usual. Tomorrow I have an eye appt in the morning, at which I shall complain about my contacts and my glasses, and have my eyes dilated. Used to be dilation lasted all day and gave me a headache because I couldn’t focus close up, but now it wears away quickly (although I have to bring someone with me to drive me home). I’ll probably watch something Ken doesn’t care to see for a few hours, and then get back to work. Along with a few errands and phone calls and the ongoing e-mail attack, I’ll be reading through the rest of Waking the Witch tomorrow, and then I’ll start working on polishing the first three chapters and writing the synopsis. Yeah, it’s a good life. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
