2004-05-25 11:59 PM Statistically speaking Well, _that_ didn’t go exactly as planned…
We decided to take fun twisty mountain roads back south from Sacramento, but wildly underestimated the time it would take. We stopped in one town at about 4:30 or so because when Ken asked if I were hungry, I actually whimpered when I said I wanted tea. (I hadn’t realised I was hungry, although I’d been daydreaming about scones with jam and clotted cream for at least 45 minutes. I had hot apple pie a l a mode, and well sufficed.) After that we pressed on for another hour and a half or so, to Bishop, where we found an overpriced Motel 6 and called travelling to a halt. We walked to a K-Mart so I could buy a notebook (silly me, thinking I didn’t need a notebook for an overnight trip—I really would have liked one Sunday afternoon as well!), and then went to a pizza place because the Thai restaurant in town was closed. We had a white pizza, which we hadn’t had in a long time. I really like those. So now we’re really actually totally home for a while. Except for Coronation the first weekend in June (we’ll be staying with Morgana and Brian in Darachshire). I leave in about 2.5 weeks for OCW and then VA. Eek. I’m officially Behind on Many Things right now. <><><> Okay, GP’s ready for proofreading. One bank account has been Reconciled in Quicken. Verizon (with whom we no longer have cell accounts) sent me a two-page bill to tell me I owe no money. It actually says “Courtesy Bill – Do Not Pay”. I’m tempted to write them a check for $0.00. Charlie is sitting on the next piece of mail I need to open, so it’ll have to wait. I think I’ll take a much-needed shower instead. <><><> Out of the four concerts I’ve been to in the past week, here are some statistics: Items caught by/given to Ken: 3 JY pics (black & white), 2 Tommy pics (black & white), 1 Ricky pic, 1 Chuck pic (black), 2 drumsticks. Items caught by/given to me: 1 Tommy pic (black), 2 Polaroids (1 of Todd and 1 of Larry, which I was supposed to have been in, but he only caught Karen). Other items garnered: some copper strands dropped from the ceiling, various confetti (caught in cleavage), cardboard top to one of the cannons that shoot out the confetti. Against stage/barrier: 3.25 times. Busted and sent back to seat: once (hence the .75). Actual front row tickets: 0. Signs proven effective: 2 (Ricky gave me the sweetest smile and blew me a kiss; Todd laughed hysterically and threw Ken an unused drumstick). Signs proven ineffective: 1 (Larry read the sign at the beginning, but blew me off for the blonde bimbo nearby, however, he gave me the Polaroid of him as a consolation prize). Total concerts attended, lifetime so far: 28, I’m pretty sure. Total number of journal readers who found this interesting/amusing: 2 (est.). <><><> The three of us watched the last episode of “Angel” tonight. It wasn’t as emotional as “Buffy”, perhaps because I’m still in the anger/denial phases of the process. It was a good episode, but it felt rushed—it could have been a 2-hour show, easily. In general, the build-up to the end of the whole show felt rushed, probably because they found out mid-season that they were getting canned, rather than having at least a whole season to prepare, as Joss did with “Buffy”. But, overall, it was a good ending. It worked better than (vague spoiler) the end of “Friends”, anyway. I’m just still mad at the WB for cancelling “Angel”. Stupid jerks who wouldn’t recognise good TV if it bit them in their asses. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
