2004-07-22 11:59 PM Celtic twiight AETW: 970
After a lovely breakfast (Welsh cakes!) this morning, Ken went off to work and I settled down to work myself. I went down to a gorgeous sitting room, curled up on a comfy sofa, and got back into AETW. A scene I hadn’t even expected popped up, which is great. At this point, I’m forging ahead, and then I’ll go back and expand some of the too-brief scenes and add the missing stuff that I’ve finally figured out thanks to that last OCW workshop. I went up to the main hotel for lunch. The restaurant was scarily posh; I had not one but two waitpeople attending me. I had a goat’s cheese toasted on focaccia, and it was awesome. I thought about using the pool and spa, but decided what I really wanted was a nap. So I wandered back to the room and took a short nap, which turned out to be just what I needed. I spent the rest of the afternoon writing and occasionally watching bad TV. Ken came and collected me, and we went out for Indian food with his former boss and a former coworker. It was a restaurant we liked when we lived here. I had prawn jalfreizi, pillau rice, and a garlic naan, and was quite pleased. After that, we came back to the hotel, grabbed our suits, and headed up to the main hotel. The pool/spa area here is amazing; it’s where I used to come for massages and other treatments when we lived here, and in fact I brought Amanda here for a half day of pampering for her birthday. The pool is huge and the water is flush with the sides, making it seem even larger, and there’s a mosaic of a Celtic dragon on the bottom. Above are painted clouds and a twilight sky, and pricks of light shine through. The Jacuzzi is the largest in Europe. We took advantage of both, as well as the communal sauna, and then briefly sat in the steam rooms and used the plunge pools in our respective changing rooms. The whole place is set up like a Roman bath, and it’s really lovely. And it was a lovely, relaxing evening. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
