2005-01-23 12:43 AM Waves of Nyquil-induced hazy goodness Words Written: “En Garde”: 663; AETW: 345; 3 stories prepped to mail; 1 story e-mailed
Got up today and decided that even if I wasn’t completely over the cold, it was time to act as if I was. Took a long, hot shower (not that I haven’t been showering whilst sick, mind you), shaved all the usual bits, did my hair, even did my nails. Dressed in real clothes and put my flannel jammies in the laundry basket. I didn’t get everything done on my list, but a fair amount. I did write on both “En Garde” and AETW, and that felt really good. <><><> Nyquil and I have been having an interesting relationship this cold. Nyquil was always my “sniffling sneezing coughing how the hell did I wake up on the kitchen floor?!” medication. I lifted that joke from some comedian 15 years ago, but it was truly applicable. I had to hurry from the bathroom to bedroom before I passed out. (I remember one time, Ken was feeling frisky, and I had to warn him to hurry, ‘cause I didn’t want to miss anything…) Anyway. This time around, I’ve been taking Nyquil earlier, then finishing up on the computer before going to bed. Turns out, it doesn’t truly affect me until I lie down. If I’m at the computer, I’m drowsy, but functional. Same if I’m reading whilst sitting up in bed. But if I lie down to read, the waves of Nyquil-induced hazy goodness begin to wash over me… It doesn’t necessarily knock me out; I don’t always feel like I’m falling asleep right away or staying unconscious the entire night. But if I am semi-awake, I don’t care. It muffles my brain enough that I pleasantly drift with my brain chatter in the background. I like that. That and the fact that I’ve been mostly asleep for 10–11 hours every night. I was going to avoid taking it tonight, but I’m coughing again, so I’ve knocked some back. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow night. It’s kicking in. Whee…! <><><> Tomorrow I should tell you about the plan for a magic Narnia-like door that takes me to Styx’s dressing room all around the world, and the discovery of a Larry CD I swore I didn’t have, but for now, the world is starting to spin pleasantly, and I must be off. --- Currently Reading: There and Back Again, Sean Astin; Black Gate, Fall 2004 Lately Listened To: Lost Brotherhood, Gowan Recently Watched: Free Enterprise; “Desperate Housewives”; “CSI” Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
