2005-03-14 11:59 PM Sales Happy Handfasting Anniversary to Us!
<><><> Sale! Of a story that I probably wrote 10 years ago, and has been to 19 markets. Perseverance does pay off. (It’s “The Sultan’s Sons” to Clash of Steel: Assassins.) <><><> I got to work today and found I have a computer, a phone, a nameplate, and a paycheck. Very exciting. Except that my nameplate doesn’t want to stick to the cubicle wall and flings itself to the floor, scattering little letters. I almost lost a “d” and had to go through life as a Project Eitor.” So I spent part of the day organizing my little space. It’s very bare. I need to bring some knickknacks and things. The amusing moment was when it was agreed that I could move all the big binders of outdated material to the other side of the room so the next hiree, who had to sit in that spot over there, would have to deal with the. [g] <><><> I sold another story! A rather sweet erotica to Fishnetmag.com. The editor has also asked that Teresa and I resubmit a holiday story in autumn because she likes it but didn’t get to it in time for last December. (We knew we were sending it under the wire.) Fishnetmag is one of those rare places that publishes quality erotica and pays a decent rate. I’m chuffed. So let’s see. So far this month, I’ve sold my second Battletech story and submitted my third, submitted a rewrite on request to a DAW anthology, sold a fantasy story, sold one erotica story and been asked to resub another later in the year. Not bad… :-) I brought the Palm and keyboard to work with me today. I think it will work well to have it set up on my desk so I can lean over and type myself a note—a reminder of something to do, a line for a story. It’s working so far. <><><> Sadly (and I do mean that), no writing was accomplished tonight. I really thought I would after dinner. But there was a mound of mail on my desk, and a mound of e-mail in my In Box, and various other things calling my name, like backing up Alfalwen onto the G4 so the glorious words I wrote in the last week and a half don’t vanish into the ether (they’re also backed up on a very full flash drive, so that’s another thing I have to add to my list—buy another flash drive…). —- Currently Reading: Double-Blind (BattleTech), Loren L.
