Well, that wasn’t how yesterday was supposed to have gone! Got up, drank tea and ate an extra-crispy English muffin, and then took a shower. As I was finishing up my shower, something in my middle right back twinged. Just a very faint “eh” that, by the time I got out of the shower and into the bedroom, had become a sharp pain that made me catch my breath. This happened once before, in the UK: from no pain at one end of the room to “I have to lie down on the floor now” by the time I’d walked to the other end of the room. Having already had multiple bad experiences with UK doctors (and still being in recovery from chicken pox), I did nothing but take lots of Advil, drink lots of wine, and sit lots on the sofa. In about three days, I could move without gasping and feeling as though I was being stabbed. This time, Ken gently but firmly convinced me that I wasn’t going to work, but that I was going to the chiropractor. I realized I didn’t have my carpool driver’s phone number, so we drove to his house just when I was supposed to arrive anyway, let him know, and drove to the chiropractor just as they opened (surprise! I said). In all, I went to the chiropractor’s three times yesterday. It seems to be a rib, but the problem is probably also linked to my weird shoulder. Anyway. Lots of prodding and adjusting and deep-tissue manipulation. In between, I spent a lot of time sitting on the sofa, doing cross-stitch, watching TV, and chatting with Ed & Marian. And taking Advil and leaning on a Cold-Pak. <><><> I woke up this morning with my back still hurting, so I decided to sit in the hot tub. Alas, a breaker had tripped and the hot tub wasn’t hot, so I ran a bath in the original-to-the-house clawfoot tub, throwing in a Lush bath bomb as I did. Mmmmmmm. I could’ve stayed in there forever. Eventually I did reluctantly crawl out, and had Ken rub scary Tiger-Balm-type stuff (provided by my chiropractor) on my back. Those two things, plus all the Friday adjustments, finally started to do the trick. I still hurt, but not nearly as bad. Which is a good thing, because we have a Black Oak Lodge Pity Party to host tonight! ---- Currently Reading: The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown Lately Listened To: Marian coughing :-( Recently Watched: “Enterprise”, “Charmed”, “Veronica Mars” Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
