2005-10-14 10:07 PM Payment trumps rejection anytime Words Written: antho brainstorming notes
I brainstormed some antho story ideas on the way to work this morning, but didn’t have the energy to do any actual writing. I’m so glad it’s Friday, even if the weekend is going to have to be a heads-down writing one for me. It feels like it’s been a long week. I suppose any week that brings rejections from Analog and Asimov’s is going to feel like that. (I suspect this is not what is meant by “suffering for one’s art.”) I have several stories in the pile to re-send; yet another project for this weekend. Our time sheets at work have a space for you to initial that you took at least a half-hour lunch if you worked an 8-hour day. We tend to make fun of this (and other such overly officious details). Today my boss carefully perused my time sheet, then asked, in all seriousness, whether I was also flossing every day. Hee. (You bet your bippy I am. I’d like to never have a sonic cleaning again, thank you. Daily flossing and twice/year checkups are now part of my life.) I’m going to have the Asian Greens With Chicken salad today. I’m also endeavoring to make this one of the most boring journal entries on earth, apparently. <>-<>-<> And the day perks up after a much-needed chiropractic adjustment, a big hug and kiss from my beloved, and a fat check from the Battlecorps folks for my last two stories. <>-<>-<> I would just like to state for the record that Melusine is a freak for getting her Yule presents out so early. We love you muchly, sweetheart, but you are still freakish.
<>-<>-<> Tomorrow starts a weekend of serious writing work. I’ll break Saturday evening for the Ladies’ Goth Night at Morgana’s, and Ken and I have some financial stuff to do, but otherwise, gotta write, revise, submit, all those good things. Mostly write. I’m not sure what my wordcount goals will be yet. One goal for tomorrow is to rewrite the beginning of Chapter 1 of DFL, which will involve some new words but hopefully a fair amount of reshuffling of current words. Overall weekend goal for DFL is to get the first three chapters whipped into shape and off to the critique group, along with some overall brainstorming and hopefully also a new synopsis.---
