Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Happy napping

Words Written: reviewed ALNM prologue revision from Sarah

Have I really not written since Monday? Oh, wait, I had the date wrong. Heh.

Brief update: Ken’s home! Hurrah!

Tuesday I took two naps. Yes, that’s how sick I was. Yesterday I barely moved at all, except to go out in the afternoon to get hot wings at KFC, because I needed hot wings. At least, I thought I did. They weren’t as good as I wanted them to be. But they were still good. Not moving was A Good Thing. I pulled out the sofa, watched movies, did some kumihimo braiding, and drank lots of liquids. I’ve been sleeping the Glorious Nyquil-Drugged Sleep of the Damned, although last night I got up twice because of coughing fits.

Today was the first day that I didn’t take a nap. In fact, I had what some might call a modicum of energy. I had an eye appt (they still haven’t gotten the shape of my right contact correct, grr argh), and then, since I was near the mall, I went to Torrid to find something to wear to my work Christmas party. No real luck, but I started to get cranky and tired, so I left. No luck finding the books I wanted at B&N, either, so I came home, ate, and ordered the damn books online. Then I worked for several hours, which really started to wear me down, so I made myself walk away. I regained energy long enough to throw my icky-sicky sheets in the laundry, tidy the house a bit, and shower.

After Ken got home and we ate, we nipped out to the grocery store for laundry detergent (because I’d used the last we had on the icky-sicky sheets, and I need clothes for this weekend), and came home with Hostess cupcakes (because I wanted the frosting) and one of those little chocolate pies. Never try to argue with me when I’m sick.

Tomorrow, I get my damn stitches out, yay. No more showering with a disposable vinyl glove taped to my wrist. Then we leave for Phoenix (ideally, from the dr’s, but let’s see how much energy either of us has to pack tonight, hah). We’re going out to spend some quality time with the lovely Helen and attend the Alice Cooper Christmas Pudding benefit show, at which Styx will be performing. We’ll be home Sunday night, probably late.

Falling over now…
