Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

A thrill a minute…honest

Words Written: ALNM: ~2500 over the weekend
Exercise: well, the week started off well but I’ve fallen a bit behind…

I’ve been working on a concerts-and-mayhem entry, but it just keeps getting longer, and in the meantime I’m getting behind on everything else that’s been going on. So, time to post an everything-else entry, and you’ll hear about Stygian madness later.

Busy days. Whose brilliant idea was it to work on three novels simultaneously? Oh, right… I made a loose schedule today for the rest of the month to ensure I get everything done. I’ll have to do more than a week of 5K-plus days on Angelika to make the Beautiful Trophy Challenge, but I think I can do it, especially if I can get the other two novel proposals submitted within a week or so.

I’m mostly caught up on ABC-CLIO work. I have stuff to do, yes, but I got behind because I’d planned to do some work Saturday and didn’t because of the event I ended up running. (Er, all that will be explained in the Stygian madness entry.) I had a frightening number of e-mails on Monday, but got it pared down that day, and have spent the week reading submissions. There was a flurry, and now that it’s almost over, there’ll be another flurry at the beginning of April. Yoiks.

I sold another story! A collab with Sarah that’s an excerpt from our novel, to the anthology Sex and Music.

I came home to an e-mail inviting me to be a panelist at Baycon. To say I’m flattered would be a major understatement! I’m still trying to figure out if I can swing it. (Ken may be out of town, so I’ll need to conscript someone to drive to the Bay Area with me!) Meanwhile, Teresa and I have been asked to talk about writing erotica at an RWA conference in her neck of the woods. It’s the weekend after CCR and Dragon*Con in Atlanta, so I’m hoping I can arrange it so I can stay a couple extra days with Phae, then fly up to Boston and have a few days with Teresa, then fly home. Thankfully we have a few months to figure this out.

Apropos of nothing else, Loreena McKennitt is wrapping up her next studio album! [does happy dance]

<>-<>-<>

Well, during the late afternoon and evening I wasn’t feeling quite up to par (minor issues, so no worries), so I didn’t get as much done as I’d hoped. But I’m happy with what I did get done, I set up things so I can start quickly tomorrow, and I’m going to bed early (for me, anyway) so I can get a good night’s sleep and start fresh in the morning.

So, there it is. Probably not the exciting entry ya’ll were waiting for! (That one’ll come later!) G’night, pets!

What Have I Done Today to Make My Writing Dream Come True? writing, editing, story submissions
Currently Reading: Rumours, Alison Tyler
Lately Listened To: WRDH – All Styx, All the Time
Recently Watched: Battlestar Galactica, and the screaming you heard last night was because our DVR cut off the last two minutes. We called Morgana and Brian to see if they’d taped it, but they weren’t home and we couldn’t wait to find out, so we downloaded it from iTunes. Good thing, because it turned out M&B didn’t know it was an hour and a half long, so didn’t tape the whole thing. And all I have to say about the ep is aaaargh! I can’t believe we have to wait ‘til October! You know, I’ve been saying that Joss Whedon is god and Ron Moore’s at his right hand, but I’m almost starting to wonder if it’s the other way around. This is the most powerful show I’ve ever experienced.
