The US (and Russia, China, Britain, Israel, India, France, Pakistan, and North Korea) have not taken the necessary steps to prevent proliferation - in fact, many of them have done just the opposite. Endless war is not a permanent solution to proliferation - that has to be diplomatic. But that is not going to happen in the next few months - stop gap measures are needed to get us to that point. And even were a total ban of nuclear weapons to be agreed upon, it would still require enforcing. We will be confronted with this question again - what will we do? The fact that our current leadership has no apparent long-term strategy is no argument against dealing with the near-term situation. Ignoring the problem now will just make it that much harder to deal with in the future. Right on, brother. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
