I went and saw the film Auto Focus with a couple of friends this weekend. It's about the life and death of Hogan's Heroes star Bob Crane, but mostly it's a study of sexual addiction. And who would have thought that a movie about descent into sexual addiction could be so boring? It was well-cast, but the dialogue rang hollow, the scenes were long and lifeless, and the movie just never engaged its subject. I was reminded of Chuck Palahniuk's book "Choke", which concerns the dark side of sex addiction (among other things). I thought about Sam's character on Cheers, and oddly enough, about Bill Clinton. It's an interesting subject, and it was a shame to see it handled so poorly on the big screen. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
