2003-01-20 3:11 PM Microwave Bombs Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (1) This is apparently an experimental weapon that might be used in potential future conflicts, a bomb that emits a microwave blast that fries electrical circuitry.
They aren't exactly clear on what the effect to humans are from the weapon, though they almost make it sound like it's harmless to human flesh (unless it lands right on you, I'm guessing). War is an ugly, disgusting enterprise, but it's interesting to note that technology can potentially enable wars to be fought more humanely (e.g., precision missiles reducing civilian casualties, and microwave weapons such as this). But at the same time, we learn of new weapons, such as Daisy Cutters, that seem as barbaric as ever. Let's hope if there is a trend, it is toward the former, and not the latter.
