The android head has cameras behind its eyes that will follow your movements; sophisticated software drives tiny motors under the polymer skin to mimic your facial expressions. And it's made by a fellow right nearby at the University of Texas at Dallas (where I recently audited the Artificial Neural Net class I've mentioned here). Unfortunately, I don't think human-like robotic faces are nearly as important as having something meaningful to interface with. Honestly, I'm not sure I'd want one of these things stuck on a pike in a downtown area, able to parrot simple directions. For the most part, I prefer my computer interfaces bland and impersonal. I don't really want my computer leering at me. Anyway, I think it's much more important to be working on the brain that goes inside the head, rather than the head that such a brain might go in.
