I blogged about this last month, when the French made the controversial decision to grant Mugabe a waiver on the EU travel ban. Yes, while Mugabe eats foix gras in Paris, his people are dropping dead at the rate of 2,000 a week from the AIDS epidemic and famine, exacerbated by Mugabe's policies, tacitly supporting squads of ex-military vigilantes that use rape and murder as coercive political tools. Mugabe has also employed a policy of evicting white commercial farmers from their land, using threats and force, sometimes resulting in murder. Much of this land previously used to grow crops has fallen into disuse, worsening the regional famine. And yet France, against the mandates of every other European country, is inviting him for the weekend. Gosh, they're so cultured and progressive over there.
