The Mother of All Bombs

The U.S. Military is testing a new 21,000 lb. bomb in Florida today (thanks Bill).

The bomb packs 40 percent more power than America's current most powerful non-nuclear bomb, the 15,000-pound "Daisy Cutter" used to pound the caves of Tora Bora in Afghanistan in late 2001, according to officials at Eglin Air Force Base.

They're actually calling it "MOAB", and they're planning on possibly using it in Iraq.

Maybe it's the latent nitpicky English teacher in me, but wouldn't it be more accurate to call it "DOAB", the descendant of all bombs, since it's the latest generation? Why would you call something a "mother" just because it's huge?
