And they say there aren't enough women in science. But I wonder this: Who exactly is dubbing Huda Salih Mahdi Ammash "Mrs. Anthrax"? Or "Dr. Germ"? Or "Chemical Ali"? Are there Arabic equivalents that our press is just translating into English? Or are our government officials giving them these names? Look, the guy who's responsible for gassing thousands of Kurds to death is one evil son-of-a-bitch, but if the West is attaching these comic-book pseudonyms then frankly it's pretty silly propagandizing. I honestly want to know whether these people wore these labels in Arabic, or whether our press or government attached them. Anybody have any idea? Update: Well, according to the BBC, we gave "Mrs. Anthrax" her nickname. Dubbed "Mrs Anthrax" by Washington, US intelligence services say she masterminded the reconstruction of Iraq's biological weapons facilities after the 1991 Gulf War.
