Now that the Supreme Court has upheld Affirmative Action, it's about time they turned their attention to something really important.

Alex Knapp reiterates my long-held view:

First of all, why is it the government's business whether I marry one person, or two, or three or more, so long as all are consensual adults? And second, even if, like Kurtz, you believe that marriage should only be between one man and one woman, then either legalizing gay marriage or polygamy (or getting government out of marriage altogether, which is the optimal solution) would hardly "destroy the institution of marriage." It would simply no longer give it any special sanction. But somehow I doubt that say, the Catholic Church is going to start blessing group marriages just because it's legal.
