2003-09-08 8:51 AM Queer Eye Revisited Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (8) Okay, so over the weekend I saw an episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.
I still stand by what I said before, especially this:
I can see the appeal of the show, similar to other shows where either homes or people are being made over. I could especially relate to the single male living alone...since I am one. Most men live very much like wild animals. So it was amusing to see the guy's dirty bathroom, his mish-mash of mismatching furniture, and the lone decaying green pepper in his fridge. And the "Fab 5" were funny and likeable. But I kept wondering why they necessarily had to be gay men. Could a group of five men and women of whatever sexual orientation, experts in fashion, food, and culture, not do the same thing? And wouldn't the basic appeal of the show remain the same?
