The movie was 3 hours long...for absolutely no good reason. It felt bloated, padded, and just mind-numbingly drawn out. Jackson probably had complete creative control after the commercial and criticial success of Lord of the Rings, and I think that was a bad thing. There was about 1.5 hours of story here. King Kong at times seemed to be trying to capture that fast-paced, Saturday-matinee action movie flavor, but for some insane reason it was given epic length treatment. So, I'd like to see a NON-Director's cut which is half the length...I'd bet it's a far superior film. Oh, and one other thing. If a freakin' movie is 2.5 hours+, bring back the intermission. A 10 minute intermission would most likely boost concession sales (which is where they make all their money anyway), and wouldn't stop the number of movies they show in a given day. So there.
