King Long

Saw King Kong yesterday. It had lots of cool indvidual scenes...if, of course, they had been cut in half. Most scenes just went on and on and on and on.

The movie was 3 hours long...for absolutely no good reason. It felt bloated, padded, and just mind-numbingly drawn out. Jackson probably had complete creative control after the commercial and criticial success of Lord of the Rings, and I think that was a bad thing.

There was about 1.5 hours of story here. King Kong at times seemed to be trying to capture that fast-paced, Saturday-matinee action movie flavor, but for some insane reason it was given epic length treatment.

So, I'd like to see a NON-Director's cut which is half the length...I'd bet it's a far superior film.

Oh, and one other thing. If a freakin' movie is 2.5 hours+, bring back the intermission. A 10 minute intermission would most likely boost concession sales (which is where they make all their money anyway), and wouldn't stop the number of movies they show in a given day. So there.
