Editing Wikipedia Redux

Well, they finally fixed the Human Genome page, after it being screwed up for at least 3 days.

I sent a mail to an administrator, telling them about the vandalism and asking them how I might correct an error or vandalism for content on a template. Here was the response:

The article has been fixed.

Wikipedia is a "wiki" (), which means that anyone visiting the site can edit or add to pages. At the top of each page is an "edit" tab, clicking this allows the page to be edited. In this way we are creating a collaborative encyclopaedia, written by visitors to the site.

By its nature Wikipedia is open to undesirable edits, but most are corrected by other editors within a very short time. We have a "recent changes" page that allows users to check edits as they happen, and "watch lists" that allow logged-in editors to closely monitor pages they are interested in. In extreme cases we can "lock" pages from receiving edits for a while, but generally the page can be reopened for editing after a short time as most edits we receive improve our articles.

To report future incidents yourself, please leave a note on
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrator_intervention_against_vandalism
and an administrator will look at it and take the necessary action.

You can also revert bad changes yourself by returning the page to the last good version. To learn how to do this, please see:

Many thanks again for your kindness in writing about the problem you saw.

Yours sincerely,
Chad Horohoe

That's all well and good, and the problem's fixed...but I still have no idea how to fix a similar problem. I have to give Wikipedia a B- on this one.
