Best Picture?

Looks like No Country For Old Men did better than any other movie last night, winning four Oscars, including Best Picture.

My comments on the film are here. I stand by my assessment. It was a crummy movie.

Then again, other Best Picture nominees, like Atonement and There Will Be Blood, were painfully boring and turgid. Juno was a good film, but it wasn't heavy-duty enough to be in the category. And Michael Clayton was pretty good, but mostly because of the acting and direction (the story was tired and weak).

I still think Eastern Promises was the best film of last year, though it was a pretty weak year overall.
