Can you name the television show with this theme song?
[Don't follow the link if you don't want to get the answer. Also you'll need realaudio if you follow this link.]

HEY YOU GUYS!

We're gonna turn it on.
We're gonna bring you the power
We're gonna light up the dark of night like the brightest day in a whole new way
We're gonna turn it on we're gonna bring you the power
It's coming down the lines, strong as they can be
Through the courtesy of The [Blankety blank]
The [Blankety Blank]

The [Blankety Blank]!

I was born in 1970, which means I was born into the culture of the sixties. (The sixties really started in 1964 with the Free Speech Movement and ended in 1974 when Nixon resigned). What this means is that I imprinted on the culture of the sixties. My deepest impressions and values come from this era.

Hearing these lyrics again after all these years I'm struck by how they echo the pervasive attitude of that era, how this show was so progressive in it's outlook.

"We're going to turn it on."

How far away is that from:

"I'd love to turn you on?"

And this line:

"We're gonna brighten up the darkest day in a whole new way."

They might have well have said:

"This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius."

Okay...enough nostalgia. The first person to name the title of this show (without following the link) will win some wonderfully stylish love beads and a roach clip.
