What’s hot and what’s not for your home viewing pleasure. 1. Walt Disney Treasures Series. 4 theme based compilations from the Disney vaults. “Chronological Donald” features Donald Duck from his introduction the 30’s thru the war years. “Mickey Mouse in Living Color: Vol. 2” features those pure Mickey cartoons in vivid Technicolor from the 1940’s. “Tommorowland: Disney in Space and Beyond” sounds fascinating with animator Ward Kimball’s weird visions of alien landscapes, plus this collection features a Salvador Dali collaboration with the Disney studio. “Walt Disney On The Front Lines” For the first time most of the Disney commissioned material from World War II is shown along with classics like “In Der Fuerher’s Face”. 2. “Friends Series Finale” Less than five days after broadcast and before NBC repeats the entire farewell again on the network this Thursday, we have the whole thing on DVD. I’m so sick of this I can’t stand it. 3. “Long Days Journey Into Night” Eugene O’Neil’s American masterpiece was filmed for “The American Film Theatre” in the early 70’s, complete and uncut. It is now available with Katherine Hepburn, Sir Ralph Richardson, Jason Robards, and Dean Stockwell on DVD. Not to be missed. 4. “The Reagan’s” The CBS TV movie with James Brolin and Judy Davis that ended up on Showtime after the big eye bowed to pressure from the right is now on DVD. 5. “In America” is writer director Jim Sheridan’s brilliant film from last year of immigrant family moving to New York where the young girls befriend some interesting neighbors is rich in detail and human emotion. Now let’s see ho we did last Friday on “STML”, where we predict weekend box office for the top movies of the week. This week we got 5 out of 5 of the top films, for the first time! “Troy”, “Van Helsing”, “Mean Girls”, “Breakin’ All The Rules”, and “Man On Fire” is how we called it and that’s the exact order they came in on. ST! WE ROCK! Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
