ST Democratic Convention LIVE
Here, from Our ST Democratic Convention Headquarters at the home of The Democratic Convention, The Fleet Center in Boston Massachusetts, is Connie Chung.
CC: Good afternoon, moments ago the gavel hit the podium as The Democratic National Convention is called to order.
CC: The moment Democrats around the country have waited for is here.
In a shocking turn of events the National party has asked speakers to limit their “Bush bashing” in remarks tonight and all week. The Democrats want to put a positive face on their vision of the future.
Two of tonight’s featured speakers may have a hard time doing that, and we have them both with me now: Former Vice President of the United States, and the winner of the popular vote for President in 2000, Al Gore, is here, along with early front runner for the Democratic ticket, Doctor Howard Dean.
Mister Former Vice President, good afternoon.
AG: I AM OUTRAGED CONNIE! HOW DARE THEY?
CC: And good afternoon Mister Former Doctor Governor of Vermont, Doctor Governor Howard Dean.
HD: YEEEE! HAW!
CC: Al Gore, could it have been four years ago that you stood at the podium and made out with your wife for ten minutes?
AG: NO CONNIE. IT SEEMS NOT POSSIBLE! I LOVE MY WIFE AND AM OUTRAGED!!!
CC: Doctor Governor Dean, there was a time not so long ago, when it seemed as though you might be this conventions nominee. How does it feel to be here to welcome John Kerry?
HD: YEEE HAW! IT’S GREAT! WERE GOING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND WERE GOING TO WIN! YEAH!!!!!
CC: Mister former Vice President Gore, John Kerry supports this war in Iraq, saying we must win the peace. Where do you stand on this war.
AG: CONNIE I AM OUTRAGED THAT THIS WAR IS HAPPENING. HOW DARE THE WHITE HOUSE ENGAGE THIS COUNTRY IN SUCH AN ILL PLANNED AND BLOODY CONFLICT FOR NO GOOD REASON! OUTRAGED.
BUT I DO AGREE WITH JOHN KERRY WHO IS THE BEST CANDIDATE TO BEAT GEORGE BUSH THAT WE HAVE BEING NOMINATED!
CC: Doctor Dean you ran on an anti war platform. What do you think of John Kerry’s platform?
HD: YEAH! JOHN KERRY IS RIGHT FOR THIS COUNTRY! THIS WAR IS EVIL! AND THE MAN WHO GOT US INTO IT IS EVIL! YEAH! YEE HAW! AND JOHN KERRY IS NOT EVIL AND WILL WIN IN 2004! YEAH! YEAH! YEE HAW!
CC: Mister former Vice President, you endorsed Mister Former Doctor Dean for President. Any bad feelings from the Kerry camp?
AG: NO! I AM DEDICATING MYSELF TO JOHN KERRY! I AM OUTRAGED AND LOVE, LOVE, LOVE JOHN KERRY! I AM OUTRAGED! AND LOVE…! JOHN KERRY… AND..
CC: Alright, take a breath. And Doctor Dean is there anything you’d like to say to the man who gave your campaign a big boost?
