WATCH STHT ON IT’S NEW DAY AND TIME THIS FRIDAY, NOW STAY TUNED FOR AN ST SPECIAL!

ON WEDNESDAY ST PRESENTS OUR FIRST SITUATION COMEDY, “4 IS ENOUGH” WITH DOUGLAS LAIN, NOW ST PRESENTS AN EXCLUSIVE LOOK AT THIS EXCITING NEW SERIES.

“HBO FIRST LOOK: ‘4 IS ENOUGH’”

Here is your host: Judge Reinhold!

JR: I’m Judge Reinhold, and this is “HBO First Look”.
How did a family situation comedy starring the founder of “Silly Thinking”, who was fired from the blog this Spring, end up on “ST”?
Why did this former political radical decide to do a family program? And how did it end up on his former blog?
Who will co- star?
How did this all come together?
We’ll find out today on “HBO First Look: 4 Is Enough”.
Head of ST Programming and Development, Sidney Grandstand.

SG: We missed Doug, simple as that, when he quit last Spring many of us were shocked and started working to get him back.

JR: Douglas Lain:

DL: I was fired, that was it. One day I woke up and they fired me. I didn’t quit…

JR: Vice President of Creative Development, Jim Farris.

JF: Well there was always a question whether he was fired or quit, I know he was missing a lot of deadlines and the suits weren’t happy.

DL: I told them I would do the best I could, but I have a family and a lot of responsibilities, and some times I did miss deadlines by a few hours.

JF: It would be days until he did his work. Sometimes a week would go by.

SG: We told him being so late was not an option, he missed deadlines, he always blamed his family and other commitments. Then it hit me. Let’s make those explanations into a show!

DL: I moved over to another Blog network right away. I was done with “ST”. I mean when someone fires you, you move on.

SG: We kept Doug on the air with “Doug’s World” with Jim Farris as host. Millions of people connect Doug to “ST” and we thought a show showing Doug’s work from the past would be a fitting tribute to Doug, and technically, fulfill his contract with us.

DL: Sid called and said that “Doug’s World” would still be on “ST”, that I still owed them programs, even though they fired me. I told him to go to hell…

JF: They brought me in and said I would be the new host of “Doug’s World”. I said that was crazy. But that’s what they wanted.

JR: Marlon Brando:

MB: Yeah, I was helping him deal with the pimps at the network, trying to get him back, and then he walked. I mean the kid just up an left. I, you know, something… he’s a good kid, but I thought he made a mistake.

SG: It was all slipping away, so I called Doug and brought up my idea for a sit com with him and his kids and wife.

DL: My wife is pregnant again.

JF: Flabbergasted! I was shocked, I mean, here’s the network talking about a show with him and the kids and it turns out they’re going to have another kid.

MB: Those darling kids, the special boy, Benny, and little girl, and Baby, and now another one. Sweet Jesus!

DL: I came up with the premise for the show…

SG: I gave him my idea for the show and he liked it. We worked out some creative differences…

DL: Money.

SG:… and now we’ve got Doug back with a great new show.

JR: Head writer of “4 Is Enough” Newton Windmill:

NW: Doug wanted all this political shit on the show, I’d listen and nod, then go write an episode about one the kids getting stuck in the dishwasher.

DL The show’s got something to say…

NW:… or the special boy lies about some candy or some shit like that.

JR: Doug’s children and co-stars Ben and Emma Lain:

BL: Poppa said to do the show and shut up. IsaidIwantedscriptapproval.

EL: Me too, my goodness.

JR: Because Doug’s wife Miriam is pregnant, they had to cast an actress in the role of Miriam.

DL: I just wanted to find the right woman, someone who seemed “motherly”, like Miriam.

JR: Tina Robinson, cast as Miriam:

TR: Guy darn, he would just keep looking at me and saying things I couldn’t understand. Then he asked me to kind of take my top off and everything and…

JR: with all the major roles filled, including “ST” host Jim Farris as Uncle Jim, the show went into production.

JF: You should see him with that Tina Somebody, he keeps trying to take her top off.

JR: The show went into production for four episodes that will air over the summer. If it works “ST” could have their next hit.

TR: I told him to stop touching me, guy darn, what a jerk, I mean I don’t care if he is a writer.

JR: You’ll see the results this Wednesday as “4 IS Enough” premieres on “ST”.
I’m Judge Reinhold for “HBO First Look”. Thanks for watching. Goodnight.

ST reminds you to watch “4 Is Enough” on Wednesdays this summer. And next Monday join Connie Chung for her new political program “The Road To The Conventions” starting next Monday.
