Here, from the New York St World News Headquarters in New Jersey is Connie Chung. CC: Good afternoon, moments ago the Mt. St. Helens became much more dangerous. The USGS have raised the volcano warning to the most severe level, a three. That means the threat of an eruption is imminent. The Johnson Ridge observatory has been evacuated and all visitors and residents within a five mile radius are being evacuated right now. That includes STs Jim Farris, who joins me now. Jim can you hear me? JF: What? Are we on? Connie, can you hear me? CC: Go ahead Jim. JF: Connie, after another release of steam, around noon today, the entire area around Mt. St. Helens has been evacuated. Scientists say a major eruption is imminent. We were moved from our observation area with every other reporter. And the demeanor of the scientists and government officials changed to one of much more urgency. They picked up a major earth tremor, that was felt in Portland and surrounding areas, it went up beyond 4 on the Richter scale. Connie. CC: Well, stay safe Jim.
