The Inaugural Mass: An STSpecial Report” Here, from Vatican City, is Connie Chung. CC: Good morning. At this hour the new Pope, Pope Benedict the XVI, is giving his inaugural mass here in the Vatican. The new Pope, “Eggs” as his friends call him, is now going to get down to business as Pope. No more Pomp and Ceremony for Pope Benedict. Today is the true beginning of his Papacy. Jim Farris joins me here in Vatican City, the beautiful city within a city, here in the middle of the city of Rome. JF: Good morning Connie. Yes, this is it for the man who was Cardinal Ratzinger, the young Hitler youth, who has gone on to become the highest source of spiritual guidance for almost a billion Catholics around the world. Connie this, by all accounts of the Cardinals, shy man from Germany with the sly grin scares the living shit out of me. CC: Your speaking for every able bodied seaman in this room Jim. Jim what remarks in today’s Mass should tip us off to what kind of Papacy this Pope will have? JF: If he says anything scary… like ‘take arms against the Jews’ I’d worry. CC: And so do us all, Jim. JF: What? CC: Thanks for being with us from the Vatican. I’m Connie Chung, for Jim Farris. Be seeing you. ST NEWS!!!! Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
