STNews Update Here is Connie Chung. CC: Good morning. In the latest news on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the AP wire service yesterday reported 4 deaths that “looked like cholera”. Cholera is a fatal disease that spawns itself from bacteria and was a plaque like problem in New Orleans in the late 1700’s. Dirty water, containing human fescues, body parts, chemicals, and an assortment of deadly biochemical’s could spread cholera, dysentery, and hepatitis quickly if not contained. New Orleans is still 60% under water at this hour, the levy’s are now repaired to the point where the city can be drained into Lake Ponchitrane, and eventually back into the Gulf of Mexico. The city is now under a strict evacuation order with over 17.000 U.S. troops patrolling the deserted streets. About 10,000 residents are still in the New Orleans, some will not leave their homes and in all probability will be forcibly removed. The mayor estimates a death toll of upwards to 10,000 or more. It is reported today that the bodies floating in the contaminated water are “too many to even estimate”. At the White House last night a tense meeting between congressional leaders and the cabinet broke up after one cabinet member said the situation at the Superdome was not as bad as reported and was inflated by media hype. Also after a late White House meeting Tom Delay, some Republican senator who is a White House lap dog, stated that FEMA did a good job and the failures come from the bottom up. Obviously placing the blame of the failure not on the Republican controlled federal government but the Democratic governors and mayors in the region. Later Delay and President Bush were spotted on the third level of hell getting lap dances from women dressed as goats. Stay with ST for more news. I’m Connie Chung. ST IS!!!!!
