On saturday, in order to join an actual face to face book club, I had to get a card to a new library (ok, I didn't *have* to - but it made getting the book a heck of a lot easier). And aside from the annoyance of having to have my card mailed to me (because I couldn't produce a second item that had my address on it and they've been burned before, blah blah blah), the feeling I had when I got my card was virtually identical to the experience I had when I was small and got my first ever library card; it was this incredible sense of awe, freedom and excitement.

I realize I simply increased my ability to take material out from lots and lots of libraries all over the city. However, each and every time it's like a whole new world has opened up to me. Libraries are one of my sacred spaces and I always count myself blessed that I'm allowed to go and experience all that they have to offer.

Books are a wonderful amazing thing.
