2006-11-24 3:55 PM Thanksgiving and Writing Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (3) Thanksgiving is not a big holiday around our house. Mary and I are vegetarians and Mary is from the UK where Thanksgiving is not a tradition. However, we did make sure that our American born carnivorous cat Sabrina had a tin of sliced turkey with gravy.
We do have some writing to be thankful about. A new story about our modern day Mongolian detective, Inspector Dorj, is included in The Mammoth Book of Perfect Crimes and Impossible Mysteries (Constable and Robinson) ; (Carroll & Graf ). The UK edition is out already and the US edition will be out any day now. The first three Inspector Dorj stories appeared in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine. This time Dorj is confronted by a "locked caravan" puzzle at a small Russian circus which has been traveling the Mongolia hinterlands on its last legs. Robert Randisi, Peter Crowther, Edward D. Hoch, Bernard Knight, Max Rittenberg, William F. Smith, and Richard A. Lupoff made the collection's cover. One of these days we will! Also, I have an essay, about a spooky childhood incident, in another of those peksy fanzines. This zine is In A Prior Lifetime # 17 from John Purcell. John was putting out fanzines thirty years ago, just as I was. I wonder how many bloggers will still be blogging in thirty years? Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
