Anyone who's read this journal for a few years knows how ambivalent I am about shilling books. Our consumer society torments us with an endless din of advertising and self-promotion. Everything and everyone is on sale 24/7. I hate to contribute to that. And to be honest, even if I didn't object to all the noise, I am disinclined to peel myself off the wall and risk people noticing me.

Then again, I write in order to be read. I want our books to be noticed (not me!) And Mary and I also feel that we owe it to Poisoned Press Press to do a least a little publicity seeing as to all the effort they put into publishing our mysteries.

This is a roundabout way of mentioning that Mary noticed today that, unknown to us, the Kindle edition of One For Sorrow, the first of our John the Lord Chamberlain series, is being sold for 99 cents!

This is the new version which we revised a couple of years ago in light of what we've learned over the years. It is less verbose, moves faster and even features new scenes and a new character. If you haven't sampled the series, here's your chance!

One For Sorrow, Revised edition for Kindle

And now excuse me while I find a nice shadowy corner to retreat into.
