We've had a total of five fights, all about pretty minor things (it's like we can't find anything important to fight about, but one of us will suddenly take a comment the wrong way). Two of those fights have been in the last three days.
Now we've made up on both of them, but I still feel drained by it. And I find myself wondering what it means that the first days of the new year I'm fighting with my boyfriend. Sean's comment on the first one, which made me smile, was that we'd had our fight for the year, we just got it out of the way first thing. That felt like a really good way to look at it. So what about the second? (Which was, btw, over something *really* trivial.) Is it just unfinished angst from the first? Can I look at this as some kind of beginning of the year cleansing, maybe? So right now I'm just hoping for the new year that I can enjoy time with Sean without worrying about one of us misunderstanding the other. It's good that we can always talk about our fights afterwards and find out what happened so we don't do the same thing again (and that does seem to work really well with us) but it would be even better not to have the fight at all. At least right now... On a brighter note, I got some holiday surprises! Tim and Heather's chapbook Floodwater arrived in the mail, and their collaboration "A Serious Case of Fairies" is really just extraordinary--I've reread that story twice now just because I enjoyed it so much. I also got the last Star*Line of the year, which had my poem "Brother and Sister" in it. I was surprised to see it, but glad none-the-less. I haven't gotten to read much of it yet. I have to start thinking about what I'm going to nominate for Rhyslings... There's going to be a Hogblast show this Saturday. (Hogblast is Sean's band. As Todd explained it, the premise it that they act like they're rock stars. Even if the music weren't good, they'd still be entertaining.) 123 Pleasant Street, probably about midnight because they have an opening band. It's the first show they've had in months. I'll see if I can take pictures and post them here... That's it for now. I'll talk to you all more later... Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
