Tip of the Iceburg

You always say, bring you street-life, bring you real-life, that one man's desperate and mundane existance is another man's... techni-color. [[strange days]]

Why'd he call his brew white lightning 'stead of mountain dew

Cake at the Warfield. The show fuckin' rocked. Their opening band was Deke something or other. This little rockabilly trio kicked off the evening with some knee tappin', upright bass playing fun. Oh yeah, and some really bad jokes too.

Two atoms walking down the street one day and one leans over to the other and says, "I'm not feeling too good, I think I lost an electron."

The other says, "Oh no! That's terrible, are you sure?"

"I'm positive!"

>bah dum pah<

*bow* Thank you, I'll be here all week.

*grin* The physical chemist gone upright bass player told that. I don't think he got the stellar response he was lookin' for.

Anyway. Cake was awesome. Very energetic show. Lots of audience participation. They saved the four most fun songs for the end. Short Skirt / Long Jacket was the last song in the "regular" set. During this, everyone seemed to be out of their chair and dancing in the isles. I Will Survive, The Distance, and Jolene were all part of the encore. The encore was more like a "sing-along" than anything else, but the energy was awesome. Overall the mix of old/new songs was pretty cool. I'm not a die-hard fan, but I knew enough of the songs to sing along and get groovy. All in all, really fun show.

They have this instrument that I want to find and play with. From where I was standing, it looked like a piece of wood with a metal piece sticking out of it. On the end of the metal rod, there was what looked like a wooden ball. Made a cool little noise. If anyone knows what it's called, drop me an e-mail.

My throat is *still* a little ticklie from all the singing and yelling.

Oh! p.s. One more little note on the Warfield. Fucking awesome venue. Very intimate and cozy, excellent acoustics and tre elegant.
