2003-06-02 11:44 PM leave the imagining to someone else... ah - monday. back to this 'work' type thing.
this weekend was bueno. mellow, but good. started off by running away from work on friday. managed to make it home and settle in a bit. mark and darian drove up from LA and picked up b from kiveraland on their way to the city. they got in just after i did. hence beginning the weekend of trey-madness. eveyone was supposed to meet at our place... people showed up (aj, jason, andrew), there was much milling about (drink, smoke, inhale, pizza) - then we all headed over to the show. short walk tho it was, getting everone out of the house and moving in the same direction ended up taking longer than we expected and we got there late. it's never good to get to a show after the lights have already gone down, hard to find your seat, harder to vie for space... anyway. b and i had tickets on the balcony, but for some reason, the row that we were supposed to be in didn't have enough seats per people standing in it. guess this is what happens from time to time. after spending a bit of time unsuccessfully trying to chill there, we joined our friends in the upper-upper balcony. there was space and seats and a view... it was great. at set break i ran into my tour-buddy. Bart of superhappybunny. (great industrial design-y type and very cool person to know) it was kind of strange-cool, i had been looking around trying to spot him, but then, all of a sudden - BAM - he appeared out of nowhere. Second set was cool. nice acousticy bit in the middle. Some neat covers. Post the show, we all headed home for some shut eye. Friday shows can be sort of tiring, you know, having to actually *work* before having fun. ;) Woke up Saturday, on the earlier side and decided to make breakfast. Pancakes and bacon. (bacon should be a part of every breakfast) After that, I went on a shopping walk with my snake in tow. Definately got some funny looks - but she (Kitten) got petted by some little kids and got some sun... it was nifty. Troops were recorralled for night two of Trey at the Warfield. This time we got there early - I took one of the floor tickets (with Mark) and hung out for a few songs. When Santana came on, I got sort of tired of being short-girl-in-the-crowd, so i snuck upstairs. Again - much better for me. They covered Black Dog to close out the first set. Met up with Bart again during the break... and again, he just sort of appeared! random-cool. ;) The band encore'd with Trey and Jen doing a smashing rendition of Beastie Boys "Root Down". Very cool way to end the run. Other highlight: First Tube with the Santana jam. After the show - (and much debating) - we headed over to the noc-noc lounge in the lower haight to meet up with one of darian's friends. b and I settled in and got a drink, but the next thing we knew, they'd gone off to another bar. *shrug* we hung out, finished our drinks and headed home. there was much debauchery this weekend. I'd been dying to make beignets - so, what better time than when I have company? Sunday morning - we invited some of the folks who missed the saturday nite show over for a nice french donut + bacon + eggs breakfast. It went off rather well. I made a plate of scrambled eggs, several bacon bits, and about 2 and half dozen beignets. it sort of feels strange to admit, but i really enjoy cooking for and making my friends feel welcome in my house. :) Post-bacon, we did some wandering around the town and i took a nap late in the afternoon. The rest of the evening was quiet. i rented Fargo on b's suggestion and then had a totally girly moment and rented Ever After. which brings us to today. monday is monday is monday. i think i'm about due for a new job. i need to find something that doesn't want to make me poke my eyes out.
