The ferrets are: asleep Weather: hot summer weather - but nice and cool inside, thanks to our evaporative coolers (cheaper and more healthful than air conditioning - don't I sound like an ad?) Reading: Trampoline, a story collection edited by Kelly Link. They made the ditch too small, though, so it's a pain to read. Knitting: cases for prayer beads. Shhh, they're surprises. If you like knitting, you can google this pattern and buy yourself one. It's very easy to work, and I've adopted a couple of the techniques I learned knitting it into other work. The colors in this picture don't show up so great - a phone camera's only so good. The colors I actually used are sage green, cornmeal yellow, lavender (which looks bluish in the photo), plum and a variegated yarn with all of those colors in plus a few more. Instead of making the blocks all single colors, I worked at least one stripe of another color into each so that it could be seen how the work turns corners. Neat stuff. Or it was until Wow got onto it a few times. She doesn't mean to do bad, she just has claws. (She has something else, too, that makes me want to tell her that she owes me some cleaning services. Can't figure out what she can do to make some extra income, and she just flat doesn't care.) Since I finished the blanket last fall I have contributed a goodly number of blocks to a couple of baby blanket projects that I initiated. I'll get pics of them up later on. Really I will. |
