gabriel Love and ferrets and pretending to be a writer. 2006-10-28 7:50 PM owie Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Tired Read/Post Comments (0) |
The ferrets are: sleeping, as they do a lot of the time. Sebastian was out earlier, visiting around. They seem to sleep more in the winter, and it's getting to be dark for a lot of the day now. Come to think of it, I like to sleep a lot during the winter, too. A couple of days ago Sally attacked the cat, jumped right up on her back. It was a daring leap, but the cat did not appreciate the beauty thereof. Weather: Clear and cool Reading: Mythspring, a story collection, edited by Julie Czerneda and Genevieve Kierans. Genevieve was one of my Clarion classmates way back in 2001 - a longass time ago. The collection was her brainchild. It's a collection of stories based on the "lyrics and legends of Canada." She has two stories in in, and another classmate, Karina Sumner-SMith, has one. Knitting: caps for Christmas I had surgery on my gums yesterday, getting them to cover up my tooth roots. They'll look nice and pretty now, and be more sanitary for me (that is, once they heal up). Just about everything that goes into the body goes through either the lungs or the mouth, so I want my mouth good and healthy. I don't want nasty chemicals or toxic metals or bacteria festering around in there at all. I don't know whether that makes sense to anyone else, but it does to me. I just learned that my dad recently had his wisdom teeth extracted. He's 74. Made me grin. I thought I was bad, waiting till I was 34 to get the last one pulled. I have been making character sheets for the novel I'll begin on November 1. My youngest daughter (DD#2) is going to be doing it this year, too, and so is her English instructor. I have told a lot of people about it. I wonder if anyone else will do it with us? I'd like to see my son (DS) get into the program; he's a good writer when he puts his mind to it, as are both of my daughters, and my sister. I wonder why we don't write? My sister, yeah, I can kind of see that. She's got a bunch of kids to deal with. But DD#1 has only two jobs, and DS has only one. Lazy lazy lazy. Writing is more important than working or commuting, or any of that other stuff. I might take some vacation days this month and write over my 1700 to 1800 word a day allowance. I'd like it and it'd give me a boost. The novel has no title yet - for me that usually comes near the end - but I have a basic idea and I have three main characters, all point-of-view characters. I have an unseen antagonist. I want to have three distinct story lines that come together near the end. Not sure how to work that out. I think that I shall make a timeline. I only have three days before starting day, so I need to get my butt busy. Speaking of which, I'm leaving off this now so that I can type up my latest character sheets that I have done on paper so I have them handy for reference. I wonder how long I'll feel all wiped out and sick from that surgery? Not to mention that I'm funny looking. |
