Back on Reformation Day, I tried to post that I was not quite dead yet, but my browser chose that time to quite carefully implode and take the post with it. I took this as a sign that I was, in fact, dead for October.

This is in large part because I've stalled horribly in my essay writing. No words bubbling in my head, means no yammering on the 'Net. NaNoWriMo, however, has spurred me on a bit, however. Not that I'm going to attempt a novel (oh! the humanity!), but perhaps between now and mid-December I can whip up some essay kernels into full-blown essays, and get a slew of them together in book-like volume. The next step, obviously, would be to slash that monster down to size, as it'd be mostly crap. But that's not the point, right...?

Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. So I'm stopping work on the Lewis essay, largely because it was turning into a production, and going into all the myriad ways that reading can go horribly wrong, and rehashing all of Western intellectual history. This seemed unproductive for a short note on the germaneness of Lewis for a more contemporary task. Probably somewhere between a monster footnote, and a "brief notes" entry for a journal.

Still, it was a useful exercise in finding something interesting and putting words on paper (alright, .txt file) about it. So far, so good...
