2003-11-14 3:14 PM Advance Planning Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (7) Continuing in the girly vein, this journal entry will be much fluff talk about my upcoming wedding.
Upcoming, as in, hopefully two years from now or so, I'll be hitched. Anyway, it keeps getting put off because, well, we are poor. We're not completely starving or anything, but weddings are damn expensive AND we live in one of the pricier places to have a wedding AND, well, I like nice things and I don't want a cheap looking wedding. So, I have this super nifty plan. My plan is to plan slowly over the next year and a half, two years (my dates as of now are either April OR October 2005). I will decide on colors and slowly buy and make the decorations for my wedding. As the dates get nearer, I will pick out patterns and fabric and let my bridesmaids know to make or have made their dresses. Perhaps, if I can make something nice enough, I will make gifts for my attendants and favors for the reception. I will make themed centerpieces. It will be oh, so groovy. So, my question to you all is this: Am I insane? Ok, let me qualify that before I am deafened by your cries of agreement: am I crazy to be planning my wedding this far in advance AND/ OR am I nuts to think I can save money by making so much of my wedding accessories by hand? Am I setting myself up for drawn-out stress? For hating every last detail of my wedding by the time the day rolls around? Or am I being smart? By the way, the one thing I'm NOT making myself is my dress. I can sew, but every fitted piece I've made turns out with at least one weird seam, and I think it's setting myself up for heartbreak if I try to make my own dress. Besides, I have this dream of wearing a Dark Garden corset/ wedding dress. It won't be fancy, but it'll be lovely. But they're not cheap; I'm probably kidding myself that I can save up and have one made, but for now I hold onto my dream. This has been your fashion entry for today.
