What really tickled me is my first personal rejection, ever, from Asimov's; Sheila said it was nicely done and asked to see more from me when I have it. Yay! It's amazing how heartening a nice, personal rejection is; I also now officially have hope that my work will have a better chance at Asimov's under Sheila's editorialship than it did with Gardener's. We can only hope.
Writing makes me think of books, and books go on bookcases, which is my way of transitioning to... This afternoon after work I went home with Richard, admired his apartment and stood around while three fabulous gay men loaded two huge bookcases into his truck; we drove back across the bay where Tim helped Richard unload them. Someday I will be strong and not have to be so careful not to pull something, but until then, I'm such a freakin' girl. Sigh. Still, new bookcases! They had been previously used as DVD storage, which is obvious from the narrow placement of the shelves; we will have to reposition the pegs to fit books other than paperbacks on them. The Rickys are getting better storage facilities and generously donated the old bookcases to our library, er, flat. Now we can shelve our books only one deep in some places! Hooray! It was lovely having company over for a bit. Richard is incredibly entertaining and sweet and I really really should make more of an effort to spend time with him and Ricky, not to mention all my other neglected friends around here. And, because I knew he was coming over today I spent much of my weekend making our home cleaner than it usually is, so I have a home that is a little more soothing. Very nice. Anyway, tired. Bed. Now. It is for the best. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
