Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (16) I just found out that I sold my story, "Skatebirding", to the anthology Nine Muses, edited by Forrest Aguirre and Deborah Layne, published by the fabulous Wheatland Press. I am so excited! I especially love the way I found out on Mother's Day, which seems fitting as it's an anthology by and about women. YAY!
I'm told that Advance Review copies will be available for perusal at Wiscon, and they'll be taking discounted pre-orders there. I can't wait to read this book; it looks like a great line-up. You know, it's been a pretty damn good year writing-wise for me. Last fall, it had been a year and a half since I'd sold a story, and I was pretty bummed and thinking, at my darkest moments, that I'd never sell anything ever again. Then last fall I had two smaller sales (small as in flash-fiction), one to Scattered, Smothered and Covered and the other to the Homewrecker anthology, which will be out this fall. This year I've had three good sales (Polyphony 5, Fortean Bureau and now Nine Muses) and I managed to finish my novel (although I'm still slowly typing it in; I will never, ever hand-write a novel again). I'm glad I didn't let myself get discouraged and quit... not that Tim would let me do that easily or anything, or that I was really close to quitting anyway. I hope I remember this feeling (a string of sales after a long drought) during the next, probably inevitable, dry spell. It feels really freakin' great. Happy Mother's Day, y'all!
