Today I helped my sister move into the basement apartment in our fourplex house. Well, I stood in line at the Uhaul on International Blvd for over an hour with her, drove her car (a PT Cruiser, which was honestly really fun to drive) while she drove the truck to a condo in the Southern Oakland hills where she bought a children's bedroom set (found on Craigslist; she had cash and truck ready when she called, which is definitely the way to appeal to a seller on Craigslist). I helped carry the funiture, white Scandinavian design which broke down into smaller units, down the stairs and into the truck.

See? This is why I haven't blogged in a month. I am dead boring.

It is nice to have Holly and Aleister downstairs. Or it will be, tomorrow, when she's actually all moved in.

Otherwise, life is sort of nerve-wracking, but ok. Writing comes grudgingly these days. Editor hat is faring better, with two stories from Fishnet being chosen for Best American Erotica 2007: "Wish Girls" by Matthew Addison and "Comback" by Nicholas Kaufmann. Susie Bright called me up at work and said very very kind things about my editing taste and told me how solid she thought Fishnet was. She even suggested that I edit on my own, pitch anthologies and whatnot. It was very exciting to hear Susie Bright say she believed in my editing, especially my erotica editing.

Also: Tim is laying out Flytrap 5 and *he* said very nice things about my editing there, as well. Sure, he's my husband, but we're honestly usually very hard on one another. I knew it was a great line-up of stories this time, but it's good to have someone other than me think so.

Speaking of Tim, I read his latest novel (The Light of a Better World) last week and it was so freakin' good I could not put it down. Seriously, there is Cool Shit (tm) in this book that gave me chills, and I really fell in love with some of the characters. I am looking forward to reading it again, someday, in book form.

Well, I have some revising to finish so I can send a story out tonight. Hope your weekends were lovely and your coming workweeks, at the very least, are tolerable.
