Today is the 10 year anniversary of my move from Indianapolis to the San Francisco Bay Area. I suppose I should do a retrospective, link to old journal entries, talk about how much I've grown, how different my life is, etc. But, honestly? I'm way too busy this week to take the time to do that. Perhaps later.

This morning, speaking of life changing events, I had the big ultrasound! We got to see lots of stuff: Pixel's spine, hands & fingers, face, head, etc. Pixel is healthy, as far as they can tell from these things. Yay! And, as far as the sex goes, it's a ....

...baby!

That's right, Pixel is shy. Although s/he was facing up, so it wasn't as if s/he wasn't in a good position to tell, it was just too fuzzy or what have you. Very frustrating. You amatuer ultrasound techs can take your own shot at it on my Flickr Page:

Head and Body

Face (and hand/ arm! And toes!) (my favorite by far, so far)

Foot!

Rather than be thwarted, I'm seriously considering going to one of those 4D ultrasound places and having at least the "gender determination" done to figure out the sex. Sounds like they have a much better chance of figuring it out with their technology, plus you get some cute baby photos/ DVDs to show to the kids someday. I'm sort of into this idea, honestly, and was thinking about it even before today's inconclusive results, so I may very well make an appointment for after I get back from Blue Heaven or the Babymoon. They have seating for 6 to 10 people to watch (I think on a screen in another room, which is probably for the best), and it'd be fun to have my sister and nephew there, as well as Tim. And maybe a couple friends, too (though if it's only 10 minutes long, it seems like an odd thing to invite folks to, honestly).

I don't mind the gender neutral stuff, and if it's a boy, that's mostly what I want anyway (I don't get the baby boy clothes with trucks on them, or basketballs), but if it's a girl, well, I'm going to want a *few* frilly things to put her in.

For the record, my guess is that it's a girl. We'll see how that goes.

And, to scandalize you all, here is a picture of me taken at Wiscon on Juliet Ulman's Flickr account.

Ta for now!
