2007-09-04 10:27 AM Tim "Hugo" Pratt Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (3) I'd asked him the night before if, when I got up to pee in the middle of the night and I happened to check online to find out the Hugo results, if he wanted me to wake him up if he won. "No," he said, "I'm up against Neil, so I'm not going to win."
"I think you're going to win, bop," I said, secretly planning to wake him up anyway. "No way." Turns out that I'm so good at getting up to pee in the middle of the night that I completely forgot to check. However, when the cats woke Tim up, he *did* check, and he woke me up. Before he even told me, I said, "I told you that you'd win!" "Where are we going to put the Hugo?!" We hugged and kissed and I got up for awhile to look at his name listed as winner online, etc. Tim stayed up; I went back to bed. It's pretty wonderful, Tim winning the Hugo. I'm incredibly proud of him. I remember when he was batting around the idea for "Impossible Dreams", how for awhile he thought he wasn't ready to write it, and how he researched it to get the movie details right when he did write it. It's a charming, sweet, story, told in that clear Tim Pratt style that he makes look so effortless. I'm incredibly happy about this win. Now, to figure out where to put this thing so that the baby doesn't decide it's a toy. Because this year's Hugo award? It's so awesome I'm hard pressed on how to explain how it *isn't* a toy. Yay Tim! Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
