River's surgery went well (the doctor said "perfectly"). The doctor's "gut instinct" is that he's a kid that will need multiple future surgeries, which is depressing. They did both eyes, so he's our little baby bug tonight with two big eyepatches. Thank goodness they're taking them off first thing tomorrow.

He's such a trooper. We got him to smile tonight even though he couldn't see us. He also, of course, grabbed his feet.
