2008-04-22 3:57 PM Happy Effing Earth Day I "celebrated" Earth Day today by meeting my father-in-law for coffee to go over the music selections for his re-re-marriage in June - we were informed by the cafe that they were having story time in 10 minutes and they were expecting 20-30 kids; therefore, if we wanted to actually hold a conversation we might want to get our coffee to go.
So we toasted Earth Day with styrofoam cups. BUT Just now I turned my hot water heater down a few degrees, so hopefully that will offset the styrofoam at least somewhat. There was a time when Earth Day was a religious holiday for me, but today it was pretty much a normal day. I did sit on my non-chemical-treated lawn for a few minutes and watch a very cute little girl pick dandelions, but otherwise it was a day. BUT This Sunday the church we have been sporadically attending is having a big environmental to do - apparently it's like the UU version of Christmas in that even the people who don't normally come to church show up for this event. I think I have to love a church that makes a major holiday out of Earth Day. It just makes ever it so much easier for me to set aside time for tree hugging and dirt worship. Reading: National Geographic Cub Scout Planning Junk Hearing: The swishing of the dishwasher (run using all the low energy settings, of course - you are SO welcome, The Earth) Playing: A little Strauss (which goes a long way, in my opinion) A little Bach A little Elgar A few other things I can't think of right now Needing: A FRICKING JOB!!! In My Car: Nothing. I just took out all of the CDs I had in there because I am in the process of ripping all of our CDs to our computer (one of the many little projects for which I suddenly have time). I actually listened to the radio while I was out running errands today. It wasn't completely painful. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
