2007-12-08 9:15 AM ...and the Envelope, Please Disclaimer and apology: I don’t know how to do links. Gah. So the pretty picture of the lion is missing, as well as the links to all the fine folk I've mentioned. Double-Gah. *************************************************************** Eric Mayer recently *Roared* at me. The following explains: It’s a new project launched over at The Shameless Lions Writing Circle that aims to celebrate good and powerful writing in the blogosphere. Those people given this award to are encouraged to post it on their own blogs; list three things they believe are necessary for good, powerful writing; and then pass the award on to the five blogs they want to honor, who in turn pass it on to five others, etc. Let’s send a roar through the blogosphere! *************************************************************** I don’t think I am rewriting the rules here too much. Some of these people have already been roared at, but I see no reason they shouldn’t be roared at again. Exceptional performances in any industry are repeatedly recognized – Katharine Hepburn won four Oscars. My criteria: 1. Truth must resonate 2. Humor is a fine, fine art 3. A unique voice that rises above the babble My roars go to: 1. Kentuckypine over at My Wierd World: Audrey hasn’t posted much these days, but when she does her words are golden – full of truth and wisdom and humor. She had me at wierd! Whenever I read one of her posts, my life becomes better and that’s no bullshit. I always re-examine life because of her wisdom and strive mightily to put tangible use to her observations on humanity. 2. Susurration over at The Strange Planet Inside my Head: Okay, it doesn’t get much better that Netta! Omigod, that rhymes, and that’s what Netta’s posts are… pure poetry. I swear to you, she has the most unique voice around and always speaks with truth & humor. There is no one and I mean no one who comes as close to being the writer this woman is. Talent courses through her family. Her mother is Kentuckypine. 3. Smartiplants over at A View with a Room: Nancy is the hardest working blogger I know. Her posts are informative with timely tips and info. Her humor is as gentle as she, and her devotion to friends and family is unrivaled. I especially esteem her new site called “Atta Girl,” which focuses on women and their accomplishments. I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to focus on Nancy. Atta Girl! 4. Taerkitty over at The Elsewhere: TK uses each word in his blogs like it is a tiny miracle onto itself. He speaks with great truth, sidesplitting humor, and a dependably unique voice. When one enters his world, the words reach out stronger than anyone else I read. For such a humble man, he wields great power. 5. Babs over at Pyschobiography: Babs is so wise for someone so young. Her truths are often raw perceptions of her world, and though our demographics are worlds apart, her truths deeply resonate with me - like a plucked tuning fork reverberating across Cyberspace. She’s hip and edgy and it’s sometimes scary when you stand beside her on the ledge, but she is an amazing and generous talent – she gives so much through her words. I wish I had been as wise at her age. There are so many other talents, but being a first-born-rule-follower, I will stop at five with honorable mentions to my beloved Electric Grandmother, Random Thoughts, Ahream, Sir Cloudy, Mystery Violet, Harmonium, Scout, LA, Lisa Marie (only because of beautiful Aubrianna!), and of course Mr. Mayer!
