2008-09-03 10:58 AM I Have Arrived! My good friend, Nancy, lived in Camden, SC for a while. Below are two recent pics of her at a birthday party I hosted in her honor:
Yes! I did bake all those delectable goodies! Nancy is one of the first friends I made when I moved to the mountain. She is grace personified and a very dear friend. Let me tell you a little bit about Camden, where she used to live. Camden is the oldest inland city in South Carolina. It's associated with many equestrian activities, and is now the home of the third oldest active polo field in America. In the winter, more than 1,500 thoroughbreds call the field home. In addition to polo, Camden’s county is known as the ‘Steeplechase Capital of the World’. Nancy played polo for many years. She's tall and slender and elegant and must have been a site to behold when she entered the field. I suspect she was one of very few women who participated in Polo during that era. Nance has had the most amazing life and met the most amazing people. I believe it was after she broke her back the second time, that she discontinued her polo playing days. A charming hallmark and status symbol of Camden is that people attach hood ornaments to their vehicles: metal dogs, horses, fox, etc. Nance knows how much I adore her elderly Jack Russell, Helen. (btw, Nancy always names her dogs with human names). < Helen Recently, Nancy gave me a hood ornament she used years ago. I was thrilled. So, I have finally arrived in the South! Here are pics of my truck with the addition of the Jack Russell hood ornament. Oh, first is my photo of the day for Envisage365.
